The APFED Showcase Programme was honored to lead a session at the 3rd Regional CSO Dialogue on Climate Change Adaptation and Water Resources Management in the Greater Mekong Region. Hosted by the Thailand Environment Insitute (TEI) and the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA).

Session: "Community-based Adaptation in Climate Change Resilience"

Topics covered included:

  • Findings from the our working experience under the programme on what types of activities CSOs should incorporate into their projects on community-based adaptation in climate change resilience
  • The projects and case studies under the APFED Showcase Programme that have helped to solve community challenges relating to climate change
  • The achievements and lessons learned in building capacity of local communities to adequately address the climate change pressures
 
In addition to these topics, audience discussion focused around the following key issues:
How can civil society organizations be best supported by regional programs and institutions?
How can small grants programmes assist CSOs in scaling-up and replicating their successful projects more efficiently and effectively?
Are we rendering enough knowledge as possible from project failures?  
Is there a need for clearer pathways for financing replications and linking up with larger markets and economies?
